The BMW X5 sDrive40i and xDrive40i are the same vehicles with one main difference. The xDrive40i features BMW's xDrive intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. The sDrive40i is just a rear-wheel drive model. If you live somewhere with lots of rain and snow or go on any adventures requiring off-road driving, the X50 xDrive40i is ideal. If you do primarily around-town driving in mild conditions, the X5 sDrive40i will be sufficient.
The BMW X5 xDrive45e is a plug-in hybrid model that combines an electric vehicle's benefits with a combustion engine's flexibility. The X5 xDrive45e has an all-electric range of up to 30 miles***, meaning you can enjoy a smooth and quiet driving experience for most trips around town. For longer drives, you can utilize the inline 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo gas engine for maximum range and power.
The BMW X5 M and the standard BMW X5 share the same size and many of the same features and characteristics. Where the X5 M differs is in its focus on performance. The powertrain (engine, transmission, suspension, etc.) is all upgraded to provide more power and a more driver-focused experience. The X5 M exterior also features a more aggressive design. The standard X5 models focus more on comfort and efficiency.
The BMW X5 m50i splits the difference between the standard X5 models and the X5 M. The X5 m50i offers a larger, more powerful engine and a performance-focused exterior design like the X5 M. The suspension and driving dynamics are softer, though, like the standard X5 models.
