The 2025 Ford Explorer has four different trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. Below we've highlighted the differences between each trim level.
Standard Explorer trim. $39,755 starting MSRP*. Up to 20 City / 29 Hwy MPG*. Features include:
Upgraded Explorer trim with sportier enhancements. $44,515 starting MSRP*. Up to 20 City / 29 Hwy MPG*. Includes Active features, plus:
Performance-focused Explorer trim. $55,505 starting MSRP*. Up to 18 City / 26 Hwy MPG*. Includes ST-Line features, plus:
Luxury-focused Explorer trim. $51,655 starting MSRP*. Up to 20 City / 29 Hwy MPG*. Includes ST features, plus:
Standard features on the 2025 Ford Explorer include a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability, Ford CoPilot360™ Assist+ with Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering, heated front seats, and 3rd-row seating with room for up to seven passengers.
The 2025 Ford Explorer ST-Line and ST are both upgraded, performance-oriented trims but still have significant differences. The ST-Line adds sportier cosmetic upgrades like blacked-out exterior elements, larger wheels, and red interior stitching. The ST includes those cosmetic upgrades but takes it a step further, adding performance-focused brakes, suspension, and a more powerful engine as standard.
Both the ST-Line and ST include additional tech and comfort features over the standard Active trim, like BlueCruise hands-free highway driving capability, a B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®, a 360 Degree Camera, and a heated steering wheel. The ST adds additional luxury features like ventilated and massaging front seats, a wireless charging pad, and ambient interior lighting.
If you want a 2025 Ford Explorer with a sporty look and modern features but don't care for added performance, the ST-Line is a great choice. If you are searching for a fully loaded performance SUV, check out the Explorer ST.
The 2025 Ford Explorer ST and Platinum are both top-of-the-line Explorer trims but differ greatly in their style and intention. The Explorer ST is a performance-focused trim, while the Platinum is a luxury-focused trim. Both the ST and Platinum offer premium tech and comfort features like a 14-speaker B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, ambient interior lighting, 2nd-row captains chairs, and a power-folding 3rd-row.
The ST trim, though, features performance-oriented components like a sport-tuned suspension, performance brakes with red calipers, and quad chrome exhaust tips. Inside, you'll find sportier ActiveX™ seating material with Miko® inserts and red stitching.
The Platinum trim has satin chrome exterior accents, leather seating surfaces with tri-diamond micro-perforated inserts, a twin-panel moonroof, and other luxury touches like 2nd-row sunblinds and illuminated door-sill scuff plates.
Deciding between a 2025 Ford Explorer ST and Explorer Platinum ultimately depends on whether you want a performance or luxury-focused SUV.
