Most modern Toyota models offer 3 different drive modes: Normal, Sport, and Eco. On select hybrid models, an EV mode is also available. Learn more about each drive mode below or check out new and used Toyota vehicles for sale at your local AutoNation location!
The "Normal" drive mode is the default drive mode setting. It offers an ideal balance of power and comfort for everyday driving situations. In most cases, this is the drive mode setting you will want to keep your Toyota in.
The "Sport" drive mode tightens up the vehicle's dynamics to create a more engaging driving experience. For example, Sport mode increases the throttle response to get more power with less pedal movement on most Toyota models.
An enhanced "Sport S" or "Sport+" mode may also be available on select models, offering additional adjustments to the suspension and the engine's sound.
The "Eco" mode essentially does the opposite of the Sport mode by decreasing the throttle responsiveness, resulting in the car using less of its engine's power when you apply the throttle. Eco mode may also make other adjustments to the vehicle, like lowering the air conditioning to preserve energy.
The available "EV" mode allows you to drive exclusively on electric power on select plug-in hybrid models. Even on some standard hybrid models, EV mode offers a limited all-electric driving experience if certain conditions are met.
